Wednesday Vignette: metal agaves

I’ve seen a lot of metal agaves. In nurseries and garden stores, that is. Not so much in actual gardens. Maybe because it’s not so easy to make them look good in the company of life plants? (I know because I have a small metal saguaro cactus.)

But I must admit I thought these three metal agaves, potted up in large terracotta planters to boot, looked quite fetching. What you can’t see is that they’re on the second story (street-level photo here). Getting them up there must have been quite a chore.

    1. In addition, they don't need watering and trimming and will always look good.

  2. Those are nice!

I can see the story behind the christmas lights draped around them: they did the one on the left first, got hands and arms too cut up/scratched winding the strand into the sculpture, then decided to just go around the pots for the last two. :)

    1. Your comment about the Christmas lights made me laugh. I bet you're right. And I also bet those lights will stay up there :-)

  3. Low maintenance, and far enough from eyes to look fabulous.

  4. I'm not sure I would have known they weren't real had you not pointed it out. I wonder what the ropes (chains) linking them are for? Here, I'd say that was a defense against theft but it's hard to believe that anyone would try stealing something that obviously heavy from that height.

  5. Very nice! It probably helps that they're up on the 2nd story.
