Ruth Bancroft Garden plant sale on October 13, 2012
This week has slipped by without me doing much in the garden (or writing daily blog posts). I apologize for being so busy but sometimes life—or rather work—gets in the way.
Luckily, today is Friday, and the weekend is only eight hours away. Tomorrow I’ll go to the Ruth Bancroft Garden Fall Plant Sale and I wanted to give you a heads up in case you’re in the area.
WHEN:
Saturday, October 13, 2012
Members only: 9am—10am
Public sale: 10am—3pm
WHERE:
Ruth Bancroft Garden, 1552 Bancroft Road, Walnut Creek, CA 94598 (map)
WHY:
Huge selection of succulents as well as California natives, shrubs from the southern hemisphere, and Ruth Bancroft’s heirloom iris rhizomes. Click here to see a partial list of plants that will be for sale.

I plan on being there right at 9am. Popular plants tends to get snapped up pretty quickly although RBG volunteers restock the tables periodically throughout the day.
If you’re not a member, this is a great opportunity to see the garden for free. Hopefully you’ll fall in love the way I did when I first visited and become a member. It’s only $35 a year and you get a plant certificate for $15. Higher membership levels are also available.
The weather is supposed to be partially cloudy in the morning, and I hope that will be the case. I’ve been to RBG many times and it has always been sunny. Overcast skies make for much better photography, so maybe tomorrow I’ll finally get to take photos that will look as evenly lit as the ones Loree of Danger Garden took when she visited RBG this spring.
