Sacramento Cactus & Succulent Society sale 5/5/12
Time to post another reminder. May 5th is not only Cinco de Mayo and the official start of margarita season—at least at our house—it’s also the first day of the Sacramento Cactus & Succulent Society’s two-day juried show and plant sale.
If you live in Northern California or plan on being in the Sacramento area that weekend, please be sure to drop by. It’s going to a fantastic event.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Juried show with awards given in 28 categories, including Best Cactus, Best Cactus Collection, Best Succulent, Best Succulent Collection and Best Dish Garden. Hundreds of beautiful specimens on display, including many rare plants.
- Large sale area with plants, pottery, accessories and much more. Vendors include Bill Munkacsy (Planta Seca), Nick Wilkinson (Grow Nursery), Mark Muradian (potter extraordinaire) and many others. This is an outstanding opportunity to buy plants perfectly adapted for our hot summer climate. In light of dwindling water supplies and rising water rates, there has never been a better time to rip out your lawn and create a unique xeric landscape with cactus, succulents and drought-tolerant perennials.
- Free admission, free parking.
- Free plant given each day to the first 100 guests.
HOURS:
Saturday, May 5: 9 am – 5 pm (plant sale)
Saturday, May 5: 10 am – 5 pm (exhibition)
Sunday, May 6: 9 am – 4 pm
LOCATION:
Shepard Garden and Arts Center

I’m in charge of publicity for this event, and I would love it if you could share a link to this post on your blog or on gardening sites you visit. We’re trying to make this the best attended show ever.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend because of a family event, but I’m counting on you Candy to fill us in on how it went :-).
If you live in Central or Southern California, the Santa Barbara Cactus & Succulent Society’s Show & Sale is on Sunday, May 6th, from 10am to 3pm. For more information, please visit their website.
Wish I could be there!
