It's actually a wildflower meadow. The blue flowers are lupine, the yellow ones are goldfields (lasthenia). You see this combination in many places in the Sacramento Valley, especially in vernal pools (temporary pools of water created by the spring rains).
I'm still experimenting with lupines. For some reason, they have a reputation for being very difficult to grow in California gardens. I planted two lupines last fall and only one survived (barely). I blame it on the drainage.
Great contrast! Are those grape hyacinths or lavender blooms?
